Recommended types of ropes to practice bondage
When one does Bondage, Shibari, Kinbaku or other, one is confronted with a question:
First we will introduce you to the different types of ropes, then their advantages and disadvantages.
The nylon rope
Its advantage is that it is very resistant. This being said, we do not think it is suitable for bondage because it burns the skin during the rope passages, as well as at the points of tension.
In this category, there are mountaineering ropes and nylons ropes sold in sex shops or BDSM shops. It is to be proscribed in suspensions.
Cotton, silk, acrylic rope
We now move on to soft ropes such as silk, acrylic, or cotton rope.
These ropes are very soft to the touch and very pleasant to handle. Being tied with them is also very pleasant. However, if these ropes are good for beginners and floor work, they are absolutely not suitable for suspension work; indeed, their elasticity and fragility make them dangerous ropes for suspension work.
Strings made of hemp, jute, linen
We are now entering the category of bondage ropes suitable for suspension: hemp, linen and jute ropes. These ropes are particularly well adapted to bondage because even if they scratch a little bit during the first use, they quickly become soft and are very resistant. They are therefore suitable for both ground and suspension work.
